The 52-acres of land that the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is located on served as an ash dump in the late 1800s. Today, the beautiful urban garden attracts nearly one million visitors each year and, aside from plant life, is home to an art gallery and the Steinhardt Conservatory, which houses the C.V. Starr Bonsai Museum.
